Michigan State University Founders' Day Celebration ceremony, featuring the inauguration of new MSU President Lou Anna Kimsey Simon and the Awards Convocation honoring MSU faculty, staff and graduate students. From the Great Hall of the Wharton Center. With guest speaker Distinguished Professor Darlene Clark Hine.
The Awards Convocation features the presentation of nine Distinguished Faculty, six Teacher Scholars, six MSU Alumni Club of Mid-Michigan Undergraduate Teaching awards; four Distinguished Academic Staff, six Excellence in Teaching Citations and one President's Community Service award.
One of the first major events in Michigan State's sesquicentennial year (
http://www.s150.msu.edu/), the program includes comments from acting provost John Hudzik, vice president Ian Gray and MSU Board of Trustees member David Porteous.
Culmination of the event is Dr. Lou Anna Simon's installation as the twentieth president of Michigan State University and her delivering of the presidential response.
Also featured in the program will be performances by the MSU Symphony Orchestra and the MSU Jazz Band I.
